Planning Intern

Urooj Khan is a Planning Intern at Sajecki Planning, currently completing a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Planning with a specialization in Urban Design at the University of Waterloo. She brings experience from both the public and private sectors, having contributed to mixed-use redevelopment projects through her internships. Her academic background and hands-on experience have equipped her with a strong foundation in site planning, policy analysis, revitalization strategies, and climate-responsive design. Her studio work explores placemaking, playful public spaces, and campus identity, with a focus on year-round comfort and community connection in the public realm.

Urooj has also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Waterloo, contributing to projects on housing and design education. She supported a study on how shared amenities are marketed in GTA rental listings and helped develop interactive tutorials to teach visual communication skills to early design students. Urooj is a student member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and actively participates in learning opportunities through organizations like the Urban Land Institute.
