In 2024, Sajecki Planning Inc. was retained by the Town of Halton Hills, in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary consultant team, to lead a comprehensive review of the Halton Hills Official Plan. With a projected population of 132,000 people and 65,000 jobs by 2051, the Town is seeking a new long-term plan that balances the needs of existing and future residents and businesses.
As the project manager and planning lead, Sajecki Planning Inc. will develop a new Official Plan that conforms and is consistent with provincial direction, integrates recent plans and studies completed at the regional and local level, and addresses new and emerging planning through innovative policies and best practices.
In Phase 1 and 2, the Consultant Team has worked closely with Town staff on the preparation of key deliverables including a Council-endorsed Public Engagement Strategy, a Background Report that identifies key issues and opportunities to be explored through the Official Plan Review (OPR), and a series of Technical Studies on topics ranging from Agriculture to Capacity Needs. From an engagement standpoint, kick-off meetings with the Technical Advisory Committee and Community Working Group, a Public Open House with interactive activity stations, and a survey have provided opportunities to learn, listen and share with residents and key collaborators and begin forming an initial vision for the OPR. The next phase of work will continue exploring key technical findings, further defining the vision and key priorities, and advancing policy development that will inform the draft Official Plan.
